You have to remember this is all 'reality TV' so, you have to assume this is indeed all 'real', but it sure is fun reality TV and a big break from all the boring English versions of the stuff. Having said all of that, 'Dog' does have a genuine presence to him, as he tries to reason with and pass on his religious enlightenment to the troubled souls he feels he's bringing in (always those on drug charges!), as well as having the genuine look of a real, experienced 'tough-guy' who you wouldn't want to mess with (you have to wonder how the sides of his teeth appear to be missing!) All this rubs off on his mouthy, take-no-sh!t but undeniably enlightened wife Beth, not attractive (but amply chested!) Dog's son Leland and his uncle Tim are more supporting players, who they comment on and are sometimes the topic of a particular show.

Those on it just feel so larger than life, though, with their hair-styles and clothes designs, that they almost look, as other reviewers have commented, as though they've really wondered off the set of some action movie from the 80s. And it's not likely British TV would ever treat us to anything quite as hard-line as this!!! Originating from an American show called 'Take this Job' in which those with unusual occupations were profiled, Dog the Bounty Hunter grew into a spin-off show of it's own, with a blaring Ozzy Osbourne opening theme song and the feel of a real 'tough-guy' show. Given the onslaught of tacky, vulgar 'reality' shows we are treated to in the UK, it's nice to see this American one that premiered in the UK on the Bravo cable channel, even though the concept of reality TV generated over there and they're probably far more into it than we are. Nowadays, he runs a lucrative bounty-hunting agency, tracking down felons who thought they'd try and skip bail, only to realize they were, not to put too fine a point on it, making themselves 'bones' for the dog to chew on. During his time inside, like many others, he found God and became a thoroughly reformed character.
